Unify the color tone and share the coloring techniques of adjusting two photos to the same color – character coloring

I have posted a similar tutorial before: “Color Adjustment Techniques, Adjust the Colors of Two Photos to the Same Tone 16xx8.com”, but it is a translation tutorial, and the software interface is all in English. Now the author has done it again and detailed it. I introduced each step, hoping to let more students understand this color mixing technique of uniform tone.

Requirement: Adjust the two pictures to the same tone

Operation:

1. Place the two pictures side by side in the work area

2. Create a new layer to create a neutral gray layer. There are two ways to do it

You can directly create a new layer and then shift+F5 and select 50% neutral gray fill

You can also create a new layer, open the foreground color, set the RGB value to 128, which is an absolute neutral gray value, and then use the shortcut key G to fill the foreground color

Set the neutral gray layer layer mode to Color

Operation demonstration:

3. Open the histogram panel (Window-Histogram) and then use the shortcut key M to select the two images. You will see the distribution of the entire exposure.

www.16xx8.com_06045A540-9.jpg

You can intuitively see through the histogram that the left picture is a valley shape, while the right picture is a mountain shape.

At this time, adjust the Levels and Exposure layer blending mode to Luminance to bring the exposure distribution and polar positions on both sides closer, so the exposure and contrast will be more similar.

After adjustment, you can close the neutral gray layer and adjust it again if it is not suitable. You can also deepen your understanding of color levels and exposure

4. After adjusting the exposure, change the blending mode of the mid-level gray layer to Luminosity. At this time, the photo will look like the picture below. The key point is to let you see the RGB presentation status of the two photos, for example You will find a lot of differences between the two photos in terms of shadows, skin, highlight positions, etc.

5. Open a Curves adjustment layer, the blending mode can be Color, and then adjust the red, blue, and green curves respectively. (Even if it is not a curve, you can also use other color correction tools)

6. After adjustment, the tonal distribution of the two pictures is relatively close! Now it’s time to adjust the color saturation and open an adjustment layer with optional colors.

Adjust the black of all colors to -100%, but adjust the black, white, and gray to +100%. In addition, select Absolute. At this time, the photo will become a weird black and white.

Then open a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and then adjust the saturation of the image to make both sides consistent.

Summary:

Summary of steps:

1. Neutral gray layer. The layer mode is color. Observe the histogram and adjust the level and exposure (adjust the layer blending mode to lightness)

2. Change the neutral gray layer to brightness and curve adjustment RGB (layer mode is color)

3 optional colors to generate black and white effect and adjust saturation

Personal understanding:

Adjust the color of the image mainly by adjusting the level, exposure (adjust the lightness and darkness of the picture), curve, hue/saturation(Adjust the color of the picture)

Mainly adjust the color and brightness of the picture and use layer blending modes flexibly

Because external factors such as the human eye monitor cannot clearly tell whether the two pictures are the same. The original author’s brilliance lies in the flexible use of PS’s own tools to reflect the light and dark RGB saturation of the picture. In order to adjust the effect more accurately, you need to be very clear about some concepts and have a good understanding of PS. The road to retouching is long and you can do it better if you work hard

It feels great to make progress. It feels great to write a tutorial for the first time. It’s not about how good the writing is, it’s also about my personal organization. It feels so breathable
