Blue tone, create a light dreamy blue photo effect – Color Adjustment Effect

The main method of making this blue-toned photo effect is to first reduce the saturation of the photo, then use curves to darken it, then use the color adjustment tool to bring out the overall blue, then make a selection and render the highlights and other areas.

1. Open the original image material above, create a hue/saturation adjustment layer, and adjust the yellow and green. The parameter settings are as shown in Figures 1 and 2, and the effect is as shown in Figure 3. This step quickly changes the color of the grass to a neutral color.

2. Press Ctrl + Alt + 2 to bring up the highlight selection, then create a curve adjustment layer and adjust the RGB, red, green, and blue channels. The parameters and effects are as shown below. This step brightens the highlight areas of the image and adds light blue and dark cyan.

3. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the midtones and highlights. The parameter settings are as shown in Figures 6 and 7. After confirmation, press Ctrl + Alt + G to create a shear mask. The effect is as shown in Figure 8. . This step adds cyan blue to the highlight areas of the image.

4. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the cyan and white. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 9 and 10. After confirmation, create a clipping mask. The effect is as shown in Figure 11. This step makes the cyan color in the picture lighter.

Press Ctrl + Alt + 2 to bring up the highlight selection, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection to get the dark selection, then create a curve adjustment layer and adjust the RGB, green, and blue channels. 6. Create a new layer, press the letter key “D” to return the front and background colors to the default black and white, and then select the menu: Filter > Render > Clouds. After confirmation, change the blending mode to “Screen”; hold down Alt. Press the key to add a layer mask, and then use a soft-edged white brush with lower transparency to brighten the upper left corner area. The effect is as shown below.

8. Duplicate the background layer, press Ctrl + Shift + ] to bring it to the top, hold down the Alt key to add a layer mask, and then use a soft-edged white brush to erase the character part. The effect is as shown below.

11. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust red, blue, and white. The parameter settings are as shown in Figures 23 – 25. After confirmation, create a clipping mask. The effect is as shown in Figure 26. In this step, make the red part of the character lighter and add light cyan to the highlight area.

12. Create a Curves adjustment layer, darken the RGB channel, and set the parameters as shown in Figure 27. After confirming, create a clipping mask, fill the mask with black, and then use a soft-edged white brush with lower transparency to paint the right side of the character. Paint the backlight area at the bottom a little darker, the effect is as shown in Figure 28.

13. Hold down Ctrl + click the left mouse button on the current layer mask thumbnail to bring up the mask selection, then create a hue/saturation adjustment layer, appropriately reduce the brightness, set the parameters as shown in Figure 29, and create a clipping mask after confirmation , the effect is shown in Figure 30.

15. Create a solid color adjustment layer and set the color to dark blue: #95B5CB. After confirming, fill the mask with black, then use a soft-edged white brush to paint the upper left corner area. After painting, change the blending mode to “Screen” ”, the effect is as shown below. This step adds a little highlight to the upper left corner of the image.

17. Create a new layer, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer; then select the menu: Filter > �Blur > Motion Blur, set the angle to 45 degrees, and set the distance to 165. After confirmation, change the blending mode to “Soft Light” and the opacity to: 50%. The effect is as shown below. This step softens the image.

18. Press Ctrl + Alt + 2 to bring up the highlight selection, then create a curve adjustment layer and brighten the RGB channel. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 35. After confirmation, change the layer opacity to: 50%. The effect is as shown in Figure 36. . This step makes the highlight areas of the image a little brighter.

12. Create a Curves adjustment layer, darken the RGB channel, and set the parameters as shown in Figure 27. After confirming, create a clipping mask, fill the mask with black, and then use a soft-edged white brush with lower transparency to paint the right side of the character. Paint the backlight area at the bottom a little darker, the effect is as shown in Figure 28.

13. Hold down Ctrl + click the left mouse button on the current layer mask thumbnail to bring up the mask selection, then create a hue/saturation adjustment layer, appropriately reduce the brightness, set the parameters as shown in Figure 29, and create a clipping mask after confirmation , the effect is shown in Figure 30.
