PS non-mainstream tutorial: non-mainstream autumn color – color adjustment effect

There are many colors in autumn, including orange, orange-purple, tawny, orange-red, etc. Here is a softer tawny color palette. The general idea: first use the color adjustment tool to adjust the main color of the picture, then soften the picture appropriately, and then beautify the characters appropriately.

1. Open the material picture, create an optional color adjustment layer, and adjust the yellow and green. The parameter settings are as shown in Figures 1 and 2, and the effect is as shown in Figure 3. This step enlarges the yellow and green levels in the background.


2. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust yellow, green, and black. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 4-6, and the effect is as shown in Figure 7. This step adds an orange-yellow color to the image.


3. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the shadows, midtones, and highlights. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 8-10, and the effect is as shown in Figure 11. This step mainly adds reddish brown to the dark parts of the image.


4. Create a curve adjustment layer and adjust RGB, red, green, and blue. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 12-15, and the effect is as shown in Figure 16. This step simply adds brightness and red to the image.


5. Press Ctrl+Alt+2 to bring up the highlight selection, create a new layer and fill it with light yellow: #E2DBC1, change the opacity to: 40%, the effect is as shown below. This step adds softness to the image.


6. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust red, yellow, white, neutral, and black. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 18-22, and the effect is as shown in Figure 23. This step fine-tunes the warm color of the image and adds a yellowish tint to the highlights.


7. Press Ctrl + Alt + 2 to bring up the highlight selection, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection, create a new layer and fill it with dark red: #856D69, change the blending mode to “Screen”, and change the opacity to: 10%, the effect is as follows picture.

8. Create a new layer and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E to stamp the layer. Enter the Channels panel, select the green channel, press Ctrl + A to select all, and press Ctrl + C to copy. Click on the blue channel, press Ctrl+V to paste, click on the RGB channel to return to the layers panel.

10. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the shadows and highlights. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 27 and 28. After confirming, use a black brush to erase the character part. The effect is as shown in Figure 29.

11. Add some highlights to the picture, and then polish the skin of the character. The approximate effect is as shown below.

Finally, fine-tune the overall color and details to complete the final effect.
