Photoshop brings out soft yellow-purple color in outdoor pictures – character color adjustment

This tutorial introduces how to colorize dusk color images. General process: When coloring, you need to separate the characters and background for coloring. The background uses some color overlays and simple color adjustments to create a dusk-like effect. The character part can then be polished appropriately according to the background.

3. Create a new layer, fill it with color: #07052A, and change the layer blending mode to “Exclude”. The effect is as shown below.

4. Press Ctrl + Alt + ~ to bring up the highlight selection, create a new layer with fill color: #FEC927, change the layer blending mode to “Multiply”, and change the opacity to: 40%, the effect is as shown below.

5. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer. Change the layer blending mode to “Soft Light” and the opacity to: 30%. The effect is as shown below.

6. Create a new layer and stamp the layer. Select the menu: Image > Mode > Lab Color and select Unmerge. After confirmation, execute: Image > Apply Image, parameter settings are as shown in Figure 6, and the effect is as shown in Figure 7.

7. Press Ctrl + M to adjust the curve, adjust the brightness and b channel. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 8 and 9, and the effect is as shown in Figure 10.

8. Duplicate the background layer, press Ctrl + Shift + ] to bring it to the top, use the pen tool to cut out the character part, copy it to a new layer, and then hide the background copy layer. The effect is as shown below.

9. Press Ctrl + M to adjust the curve of the cutout character and adjust each color. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 12 – 15, and the effect is as shown in Figure 16.

10. Execute: Image > Adjustment > Optional Color, adjust red, yellow, and white. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 17 – 19, and the effect is as shown in Figure 20.

11. Add a layer mask and use a black brush to slightly paint the edges of the characters. The approximate effect is as shown below.

12. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the midtones and highlights. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 22 and 23, and the effect is as shown in Figure 24.

13. Create a new layer and stamp the layer. Simply add vignetting to the image, using any method. The approximate effect is as shown below.

14. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust red and white. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 26 and 27, and the effect is as shown in Figure 28.

Finally adjust the colors and details to complete the final effect.
