The latest version of CS5 finally supports direct generation of 3D text. Let us experience its effect through an example!
First of all, please take a look at the final effect of today’s tutorial. How is it? Is it not inferior to professional 3D software at all?
Materials used:
1. Cloud background
2. Wall
3. Stone
4. Characters
Create a new document and enter text
3D menu – relief – text layer (this is only available in the CS5 version)
Select the first three-dimensional style, bulge depth 5, scale 0.34, and choose no texture for the material. The rest are default.
Select the 3D transformation tool on the toolbar to move, transform and rotate the generated 3D text until you are satisfied.
Menu bar “Window – 3D”. Diffuse loading texture in 3D extrusion material. Load wall texture
The texture feels too thick. Select Edit Properties
The U scale and V scale are both set to 10.00 and now the wall looks much better.
The 3D front expansion material is loaded with stone texture in the same way
Open the cloud material and drag it in. Use ctrl+U to adjust the hue and saturation of the cloud layer.
Create a new layer, set the foreground color to white, select a hardness of 0, enlarge the diameter of the brush, click on some floating clouds at will, and lower the opacity of the layer.
Open the character material and select the “Quick Selection Tool” to easily cut out the character part. (After testing, this function in CS5 is really great, and it is really convenient to cut out pictures
Drag the cutout character in, resize it with ctrl+T, and place it in the appropriate position.
Create shadows for the characters. (For the method of making shadows, please refer to the shadow making tutorial on this website. This example will not be introduced)
At this point we need to adjust the color of the 3D text. Create a new layer, hold down the ctrl key to select the 3D text layer and the new layer, ctrl+E to merge
The purpose of this is to turn the 3D text into a normal layer for easy adjustment.
ctrl+U adjust hue and saturation.
In order to make the three-dimensional effect more prominent, we choose the burn and dodge tools for processing. Since the figure’s shadow is on the upper right, we can assume that the light is coming from the front left.
Therefore, we need to deepen the red circle in the picture and lighten the blue circle.
Ctrl+L adjusts the color levels to make the contrast stronger.
Finalize the details and call it a day.
