Everyone knows that “Dream of Red Mansions” is one of the four great classics in ancient my country and a literary classic. Now I am using Photoshop CS4 to design the cover of “Dream of Red Mansions”.

1. Open the Photoshop CS4 software, execute the menu: “File”/”New” (shortcut key Ctrl+N), the new dialog box will pop up, name: book cover design, width: 204 mm, height: 140 mm, Resolution: 300 pixels/inch, color mode: RGB color, 8-bit, background content: white. After setting, click the “OK” button, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Press the key combination Ctrl+R to display the ruler, select the move tool in the toolbox, and drag out the auxiliary line on the edge of the ruler, as shown in Figure 2.

3. Set the foreground color to yellow (#e5d7bc), press the key combination Alt+Delere, and fill in the color, as shown in Figure 3.

4. Execute menu: “Filter”/”Noise”/”Add Noise”, the “Add Noise” dialog box will pop up, set the amount to 10%, distribution: average distribution, single color, as shown in the figure 4 shown.

5. Click the Create New Layer button at the bottom of the layer panel to create a new “Layer 1”, as shown in Figure 5; select the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the toolbox, draw a rectangle on the right side of the page, and set the foreground color For: #d2c7b2, press the key combination Alt+Delete to fill the color, and then press the Ctrl+D keys to cancel the selection, as shown in Figure 6.

6. Execute the menu: “File”/”Place”, the placement dialog box will pop up, insert: “Cover Design Material 01.png”, adjust the position, press the Enter key, and then execute the menu: “Layer” “/”Rasterize”/”Layer”, as shown in Figure 7.

7. Set the opacity of the “book cover design material 01” layer on the layer panel to: 50%, as shown in Figure 8.

8. Select the layer of “Book cover design material 01”, click the Add layer mask button below the layer panel, add a layer mask, then select the gradient tool of the toolbox, and click on the tool options bar Select the “Black, White Gradient” style and linear gradient, and then drag the gradient on the page, as shown in Figure 9; the result is as shown in Figure 10.

9. Execute the menu: “File”/”Place”, the placement dialog box will pop up, insert: “Cover Design Material 02.png”, adjust the position, press the Enter key, and then execute the menu: “Layer”/” Rasterize”/”Layer”, as shown in Figure 11.

10. Set the blending mode of the “Cover Design Material 02.png” layer to “Hard Light” on the layer panel, as shown in Figure 12.

13. Select the vertical text tool in the toolbox, enter: Dream of Red Mansions, set the font to: official script, the size to: 48 points, and the color to: white, as shown in Figure 16.

14. Right-click the text layer, select “Blending Options” in the right-click menu, and the “Layer Style” dialog box will pop up. Check the drop shadow option, set the blending mode to: Multiply, and set the shadow color to Red, opacity: 100%, angle: 120 degrees, global light is checked, distance: 8 pixels, expansion: 0%, size: 18 pixels, as shown in Figure 17.

19. Copy the book title and material border on the paper, move it on the spine, execute the menu: “Edit”/”Free Transform” (shortcut key Ctrl+T), and adjust the size, as shown in Figure 22.

20. Select the vertical text tool in the toolbox, enter: Author\Cao Xueqin\Gao E on the spine, set the font to: official script, the size to: 8 points, and the color to: black, as shown in Figure 23.

1.
