It is actually easy for the author to capture a certain style when translating PS pictures, but to achieve it depends on how deep your PS skills are. I don’t advocate fancy things. Drawing pays attention to details. The good effect lies in the improvement compared to the original after it is made. Even if your work is too gorgeous and highly technical, if people think it is not as refreshing as the original picture, then it is considered a failure.
After all the nonsense, we will go directly to today’s theme tutorial of character highlighting and detail processing tutorial: Step 1 Load the original image into photoshop. Note: The techniques described in this tutorial may be more suitable for character processing than for landscapes!
Step 2 First, in order to prevent the irreversible situation caused by improper operation, we right-click the original layer on the layer panel and select “Convert to Smart Object”
Step 3 Select Image-Shadows/Highlights and adjust the slider to 50%!
,
Step 4Step 4 Next we need to add a lighting effect, click
button and select “Black and White”.
In the Black and White settings, click Automatic and then click OK.
Step 5 Change the mode of the black and white mask layer to “Overlay”. We should get a high contrast effect!
Step 6 Next, we copy the original image layer. We select the original layer “Background” and press the shortcut key Ctrl+J to copy it!
Step 7: Select the new layer (background copy), then select the filter “Sharpen” Smart Sharpen. Make the edges sharper as you resize the radius pixels. Increase the radius until we see even a slight halo around the character.
As shown in the picture, the sharpening is already quite strong! But this is the effect we want!
,Step 8 We add a mask to the “Background Copy” layer and fill it with black, as shown in the picture:
Step 9 First, press D to reset the foreground and background colors to black and white. Then, select
Use the Brush Tool and click on the newly added mask in the Layers panel. Next, we need to use a brush to carefully paint the character with white. The painted area should show the effect of sharpening just now. That’s right! Our purpose is just to sharpen the character alone. The application must be accurate to avoid subsequent steps affecting the final effect!
Step 10 After the painting is complete, hold down the Ctrl key and click the mask in the layers panel, so that we can successfully select the background except the characters!
Click
button to select Brightness/Contrast. This will create a new layer mask with brightness/contrast adjustments.
Step 11: In the Brightness/Contrast settings, set Brightness to -50 and click OK.
, Final Result The final effect is as shown in the picture. If you find that there are imperfections in the layer mask you just painted, you can still use a brush to paint inside the layer mask, but be sure to select the mask instead of the layer, and the brush color is white. !
Before and after comparison:
100% size effect
