1. Open the material picture and select the menu: Image > Mode > Lab Mode. Create a curve adjustment layer and adjust the parameters for the a, b, and brightness channels respectively as shown below.
2. Create a Levels adjustment layer, select the brightness channel, and adjust the black point slider to enhance the dark tones of the photo.
3. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer, select the menu: Image > Apply Image, and set the parameters as shown below.
