The original material is a monochrome character picture. When processing, you can use fill color overlay to add some complementary colors to the picture. The specific color can be chosen according to your own preferences. After you have roughly figured out the main color, you can then adjust the local colors and details appropriately.

1. Open the original image material, press Ctrl + J to copy the background layer, change the layer blending mode to “Screen”, and change the opacity to: 20%, the effect is as shown below.
2. Create a hue/saturation adjustment layer and adjust the red color. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 2, and the effect is as shown in Figure 3.
3. Create a new layer, fill it with color: #3D0316, change the layer blending mode to “Screen”, and change the opacity to: 40%. The effect is as shown below.
4. Create a gradient mapping adjustment layer. The color settings are as shown in Figure 5. After confirmation, change the layer blending mode to “Hue” and the opacity to: 60%. The effect is as shown in Figure 6.
5. Create a new layer, fill it with color: #5A406C, change the layer blending mode to “Screen”, and change the opacity to: 30%. The effect is as shown in Figure 7. Press Ctrl + J to copy the current layer and change the layer blending mode to “Soft Light”. The effect is as shown in Figure 8. After confirmation, press Ctrl + J to copy the current layer and change the layer blending mode to “Screen”. The effect is as shown in Figure 9.
6. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the red and yellow. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 10 and 11. After confirming, use a black brush to erase the corners. The effect is as shown in Figure 12.
7. Use the pen tool to cut out the character’s mouth, convert it to a selection and create a color balance adjustment layer, make it slightly redder, and set the parameters as shown below.
8. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the highlights. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 14. After confirmation, change the layer opacity to: 20%. The effect is as shown in Figure 15.
9. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the white color. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 16, and the effect is as shown in Figure 17.
10. Create a curve adjustment layer and adjust the blue color. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 18. After confirming, use a black brush to erase the middle part. The effect is as shown in Figure 19.
11. Press Ctrl + Alt + ~ to bring up the highlight selection, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection, create a new layer with fill color: #573A57, change the layer opacity to: 20%, and add a layer mask , use a black paintbrush to erase the character’s face. The effect is as shown below.
12. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer. Press Ctrl + Shift + U to remove the color, and change the layer opacity to: 10%. The effect is as shown below.
13. Create a brightness/contrast adjustment layer. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 22, and the effect is as shown in Figure 23.
14. Create a Curves adjustment layer and darken the whole thing slightly. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 24, and the effect is as shown in Figure 25.
Finally, sharpen the layer slightly to complete the final effect.
