This tutorial focuses on the production of the sphere part. A seemingly simple sphere is a bit difficult to make. Because the reflective part on the surface of the sphere is not regular, you need to use the path tool to outline the selection, feather it, and then fill it with highlights. In this way, the three-dimensional sense of the sphere can be highlighted.
Final effect
1. Create a new 800 * 600 pixel file, select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 1, and pull out the radial gradient as shown in Figure 2.
2. Create a new layer, name it “Sphere”, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool, draw a perfect circle selection, and fill it with white. Use the Pen Tool to outline the selection at the top and fill it with white. The overall selection is shown in Figure 3, then lock the layer, select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 4, and pull out the radial gradient shown in Figure 5.
3. Create a new layer, use a pen to outline the selection shown in Figure 6, press Ctrl + Alt + D to feather 20 pixels, and then fill it with color: #FBB647. The effect is as shown in Figure 7.
4. Call up the “Sphere” layer selection, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection, and press Delete to delete the excess part.
5. Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to pull out the selection shown in Figure 9, press Ctrl + Alt + D to feather 15 pixels, fill color: #FEC657, the effect is as shown in Figure 10.
6. Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to pull out the selection shown in Figure 11, press Ctrl + Alt + D to feather 25 pixels, fill color: #FBD7A0, the effect is as shown in Figure 12.
7. Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to pull out the selection shown in Figure 13, press Ctrl + Alt + D to feather 10 pixels, fill color: #FEEAB7, the effect is as shown in Figure 14.
8. Create a new layer, use a pen to outline the selection shown in Figure 15, select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 16, and pull out the linear gradient as shown in Figure 17.
9. Create a new layer, select the straight line tool, draw a few short straight lines, and use the burn/dodge tool to adjust the brightness appropriately. The effect is as shown below.
10. Create a new document of 300 * 300 pixels, fill the background with black, create a new layer, use the rectangular marquee tool to pull out the rectangle shown in Figure 19, and fill it with the gradient color shown in Figure 20.
11. After canceling the selection, execute: Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 21. Select plane coordinates to polar coordinates. The effect is as shown in Figure 22.
12. Drag the completed ring in and adjust the size appropriately. The effect is as shown below.
13. Use the same method to create a straight line, the effect is as shown below.
14. Open the snowflake pattern shown in the picture below, cut it out, drag it in, and add some gradient color appropriately. The effect is as shown in Figure 26.
15. Create a new layer and add snowflakes and bows. The effect is as shown below.
16. Finally adjust the details and colors to complete the final effect.
