Rat painting always seems to give people a difficult feeling. Xue Daixun’s character painting must have a strong foundation, so what should beginners do? I feel that we can start with regular shapes and comics, so that we can have a good grasp of the outline, and the format of comics can also control the accuracy of the image. Now we will simply draw a cartoon rabbit for everyone. For reference and study purposes.
1. Open Photoshop, the software you need to use, and execute the shortcut key CTRL+N to create a new RGB image with a width and height of 500 pixels. Fill the background layer with black.
2. Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to draw an elliptical selection in the middle of the image, and fill it with white.
3. Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool, select Add to Selection in the property bar, as shown below, and then pull out the two ears of the cartoon rabbit.
4. Refer to the parameters in the picture below to set the layer style.
5. Create a new layer, use the elliptical marquee tool to pull out the eyes of the cartoon rabbit, and fill the eyeballs with black.
6. Create another layer, use the pen tool to outline the eyelids of the cartoon rabbit, and fill it with the corresponding color.
7. Just use the same method to draw the other eye of the rabbit. The effect is shown in the picture below.
8. Create a layer and use the Ellipse Tool to draw a few ellipses for the rabbit’s whiskers. You also need to set the stroke style.
9. Create a new layer and link it to the layer where the beard is located, then press the shortcut key CTRL+E to merge the linked layers, and then use the eraser tool to erase the overlapping edges.
10. The other side and the hair should be treated with the same method. The method may not be what I mentioned. You can do it according to the method you are familiar with. It is not difficult.
11. You still need to create a new layer, use the Ellipse Tool to draw two ovals and fill them with different colors, and do the same 2-pixel stroke process.
12. The nose is treated in the same way, it’s very simple.
13. Take a look at the cartoon points made on the rabbit’s body. You can use the fillet tool to draw them. I won’t go into details here.
14. Wear small clothes on the body. This can be easily achieved with a pen.
15. Use a pen to draw the arms of the rabbit.
16. Create a new layer and draw a rough shape with a pen.
17. Use the Ellipse Tool to add a few claws.
18. Move the paw you just drew to the appropriate position and stroke it in the same way.
19. For the sake of simplicity, I won’t talk about the other side anymore. In fact, you can also copy it. You can do it well by directly changing the direction and size.
20. Create a new layer, draw a path with a pen, and draw the rabbit’s mouth.
21. And stroke the path with 2 pixels blue.
22. Use 2 pixels black to make a few small dots.
23. Now click on the black background layer and make a color gradient to get the effect below.
24. Create a new layer on the background layer and use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to draw a perfect circle.
25. Modify the unnecessary outer parts, use strokes, shadows, and gradient effects to get the final cute cartoon object. In this way, we have completed the mouse painting.
I’m just going to give you a rough outline of the method here. There are many small production methods that I’ve skipped over, because what I want to say is too long and may not be explained clearly. Especially friends who are not familiar with fountain pens need a little patience.
