Pixel Painting Series Tutorial 4: Basic Perspective
In pixel painting, if you only draw shapes from a single angle, it will always lack expressiveness. If you want to change the angle, it involves the laws of perspective.
In perspective, perspective can be divided into physical perspective (geometric perspective) and air perspective.
Physical perspective is the science of using lines on a plane to illustrate the spatial position, outline and light and dark projection of objects based on the principles of optics and mathematics.
Aerial perspective studies and expresses the effect of spatial distance on the color and visibility of objects. Because the perspective phenomenon is that the distance is small and the near is large, it is also called the “far and near method”.
According to the different vanishing points, it is divided into parallel perspective (one vanishing point), angled perspective (two vanishing points) and oblique perspective (three vanishing points). It is difficult to follow the rules for drawing one-point, two-point and three-point perspective lines in pixel paintings, so the perspective method in pixel paintings simplifies and adapts the above-mentioned perspective rules. According to the unique properties of pixel lines, a top-down parallel perspective without vanishing point is widely used.
1. 22.6 degree perspective
Because pixel paintings are usually used to draw exquisite and small shapes, and we know that the use of lines in pixel paintings is very particular, so in order to conform to people’s visual impression and facilitate painting, this A top-down parallel perspective composed of a 22.6-degree double-point line has become the most commonly used perspective for pixel painting perspective drawing.
As shown in the figure, the perspective of the cube is composed of a 22.6-degree double-point line. The perspective angles of the left and right sides are the same, and each side is a parallelogram; the overall structure is clear, the shape is intuitive, and Easy to master.
2, 45 Degree Perspective
Although the angle is changed, the perspective law that each face is a parallelogram will not change. However, since the perspective angles of the left and right sides are different, it is difficult to grasp it well in actual drawing. You should observe more and do more.
3. Perspective of a cylinder
The roundness of the ellipse on the top surface determines the height of the bird’s eye view. If the ellipse is closer to a circle, the bird’s eye view angle will be higher. On the contrary, the flatter the ellipse, the bird’s eye view angle will be higher. Low as shown in the picture.
4. Perspective of cones
Cones are divided into four-sided cones, cones, etc., but there is no difference in the drawing methods. The base determines the size of the cone, and the diagonal lines control the size of the cone. high. Overall, it’s still worth practicing more and trying to draw cones of various heights using diagonal lines at different angles.
