Create a 32×32 document and draw the outline of the lion. When drawing a work with symmetrical left and right structures, you can draw one half first, then copy and paste the other half, and finally flip it horizontally to align the two halves. For the shape of this lion, I mainly referred to Disney’s lion shape and then modified it to become what it looks like now. When referring to the shape, you must grasp the characteristics of the animal so that you can use it for your own use. For example, the distinctive characteristics of a lion are its mane, nose, face, etc.
Because the entire lion outline is symmetrical, it doesn’t look realistic enough. Therefore, it is necessary to make some adjustments to the mane, such as the hair on the lion’s forehead and chin, which will look more natural after being rearranged. Next, we need to color the lion as a whole. There is no need to think too much here. It is enough to distinguish the skin and hair.
After adding the main color, you need to consider the light and shade. Assume that the light source is from the left If it is illuminated from the right, then the left side of the lion should be the light-receiving part, and the right side should be the backlight part (dark side). Follow this principle to draw the dark side by deepening the color based on the original color. At the same time, due to the impact of the lion’s chin mane on the chest, a dark side should also appear on the chest.
At this time, the lion’s skin already has two colors: primary color and dark side. Color, we can continue to add a middle color between these two colors to make the skin tone more full and vivid.
Next, draw the details and adjust the colors, such as the lion’s eyes, nose, and mouth. and other parts. Since the hair on the chin grows downward, soften the black line between the chin and the mane appropriately, and use a color darker than the shadow of the coat color to outline it.
